Ways to ensure you won't be driving for a while...

From the Police and Sheriff's Departments this morning:

I imagine that these folks will probably be walking for the next couple days...

• Sheriff’s deputies took a license plate back to the County Treasurer’s office after a 42-year-old Church Street resident wrote a bad check, Sheriff Pownall said. No citations were issued and the matter is now in the hands of the treasurer.

• Police ticketed a 16-year-old boy for marijuana possession and use after officers smelled burnt marijuana during a vehicle stop at 5:35 p.m. on Seventh Street and Miller Avenue, Sgt. Baird said. Traveling with the driver were three other males, aged 15, 18 and 21, all of whom were ticketed for marijuana use. The minors’ parents were called and the adults were released.

And this guy seems just a little bit desperate...

• A man was seen tucking four-to-five bags of beef jerky into his jacket at 2:36 p.m. Wednesday at the Common Cents gas station on South Douglas Highway, Baird said. The man drove off in a white 1993 Cadillac. The beef jerky was worth about $30. Police have no suspects.

More soon. Word to the mother bird.
